Your Berlin guide to #MME
Including a smorgasbord of pre-events
Welcome to the Micromobility Newsletter, a desktop-to-inbox bulletin focused on the future of urban transportation. You are receiving this email either because you subscribed to our newsletter or because you ordered a ticket to one of our events. You may unsubscribe here anytime.
The day we’ve all been waiting for is almost here. Our Berlin conference, Micromobility Europe, is happening one week from tomorrow, on October 1.
To celebrate the whole community coming together in one place, we are organizing a series of activities in Berlin on September 29 and 30.
These pre-events are completely free and open to the public. If you’re going to be in Berlin next week, please come out and say hello. We love to meet the faces behind the Twitter handles.
As well, we encourage you to organize your own get-togethers around the main conference. No one has claimed the after party yet…
You can track the official side events and organize your own using our dedicated Notion page.
If you haven’t booked your conference tickets yet, we still have some left. Get your passes here.
Alright, with that squared away, here’s what we have on deck.
Sunday, September 29
👟Wake-Up Run
When: 8AM-9AM
Where: Meet at Friederichs Bridge on Museum Island in Mitte
What: Start your Sunday (and/or shake off jet lag) with a friendly group run through Berlin’s vibrant city center. Demonstrating the raw power of the original lightweight modal—the sneaker—Micromobility Industries co-founder James Gross will lead a group on his favorite 4-mi (6.5-km) loop along the Spree River.
No RSVP necessary. Come rain or shine.
🎙️Live Podcast Recording
When: 5PM-7PM
Where: The Drivery GmbH, Mariendorfer Damm 1, 12099, Berlin
What: With Germany’s first full season of scooter sharing almost over, what comes next for micromobility? Horace Dediu and Oliver Bruce, co-hosts of The Micromobility Podcast, will discuss during a live episode recording, hosted at mobility incubator The Drivery.
Join for refreshments and a lively conversation about infrastructure, investment, policy, and the next chapter of micromobility adoption across Europe, followed by an audience Q&A.
Monday, September 30
🛴Critical Mass Ride and Hangout
When: 5:30PM-6:30PM (and beyond)
Where: Meet at Friederichs Bridge on Museum Island in Mitte
What: Take part in one of our famous Critical Mass Rides through Berlin the evening before the main event. Bring or rent your own modal—be it a bike, ebike, kick scooter, balance board, or some new device we haven’t heard of yet—then ride along with us through the city’s cycleways in a show of solidarity for safe streets and active mobility.
The ride will wind through the historic Mitte district and conclude at 6:30PM at Prater Garten (Kastanienallee 7-9, 10435 Berlin), a quintessential German biergarten where we will hang out for drinks and pretzels.
Feel free to join us at Prater Garten, whether or not you participate in the Critical Mass Ride. Be responsible: Do not drink and ride.
RSVP here and we will send you the route and details ahead of time. Come rain or shine.
The night before #MMCA, expert of SF infrastructure @brezina led a spontaneous group ride that really took off.
